Eastern Cape premier announces cabinet reshuffle

"Over the last eighteen months, we have been seized with the task of improving the quality of services rendered to our communities particularly focusing on our priorities, the premier said in a statement.

"In doing so, proper attention had to be given to the much needed synergy's and alignment with the national efforts. In this regard, the posture of some of our ministries has had to be revisited." Kiviet said the during this period the provincial government had the opportunity to identify gaps within the service delivery chain which required prompt intervention to strengthen its leadership.

Two members of the executive council had also resigned which added to the "need to re-look" at the composition of the council, she said.

Ten new ministries had been established:

- Public Works, Roads and Transport MEC Thandiswa Marawu.

- Human Settlements, Safety and Liaison MEC Helen August-Sauls.

- Provincial Planning and Finance MEC Phumulo Masualle.

- Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism MEC Mcebisi onas.- Social Development, Women, Youth and People with Disabilities MEC Pemmy Majodina.

- Education and Training MEC Mandla Makupula.

- Health MEC Sicelo Gqobana.

- Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC Mlibo Qhoboshiane.

- Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture Xoliswa Tom.

- Rural Development and Agrarian Reform MEC Zoleka Capa.

Yhey I think this thing of reshuffling must be looked in a broader sense bcoz how can you chop and change but you ar still needing continuity to be honest this thing is not good lets wait and hope that leaders will see this

hay man we mst not be fulled here dis political deploye's are not assisting the doe at all.what we want is the transformation in education not changes of the MEC'S. the pec of ANC has decided to call our deployee in the doe wth out consalting the stake holders .the challenge dat we ar faced wth in the doe are the officiiiialls not the MEC.

I hope the new MEC will concentrate on the new office building in the GRT District as it has been standing half built for the past 4 years and contractors have been coming and going robing the government.

I hope the new MEC wil pay attention to the district offices in particular B'worth District where there is no clean toilets,office space, poor electicity , water, the institution is not even fenced.Worker's life is at a high risk. Hayi ke kuqhekezwa nyanga nenyanga kumka ozi-computers,printers and other material.
