Umalusi chief executive Dr Mafu Rakometsi told media in Pretoria the council was satisfied that the matric examination processes of 2010 had functioned properly.
Umalusi had approved the releasing of the results of National Senior Certificate examinations held by the department of basic education.
It has also approved the examinations of the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) and the Eksamenraad vir Christelike Onderwys.
Chairman of Umalusi, Professor Sizwe Mabizela, said 641,533 candidates wrote the National Senior Certificate examination.
Of the 67.2 subjects written, there had been no upward or downward adjustments.
The department of education would release the matric results on Thursday, January 6.
"We are satisfied that those examinations are credible and can be released," he said, adding that any errors had been "technical" in nature.
Some 83,000 students wrote the General Education Training Certificate.
Mabizela said nothing had compromised the examinations hosted by the Department of Higher Learning.
Some 8261 full time candidates and 104 part-time candidates wrote examinations held by the IEB. These results were approved for release.
Some 1,100 candidates wrote senior certificate examinations held by the Eksamenraad vir Christelike Onderwys. Umalusi was not able to give an unqualified result, but said this was as a result of "systematic" problems, such as the writing of an accountancy paper that had not been approved.
