The campaign to touch and change lives by the East London Game Store branch has reached its full swing as less privileged learners across the Eastern Cape Province schools are provided with basic facilities to aid with hygienic preparation of food.Game store’s Representative Paul Jackson revealed that the store launched the “AMA-LUCH BOX” campaign in 2008, and since then 45 AmaLunchbox mobile container kitchens have been donated to various schools across South Africa.
One of the East London district schools, Nompumelelo Primary in Duncan village, was donated by Game store with a kitchen container fitted with a four plate gas burner, two gas cylinders, a heavy duty bowl sink, one fire extinguisher, a cutlery set and other kitchen utensils.
On behalf of Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDoE), the Chief education specialist (CES) Vuyiswa Pika, cut the ribbon and announced the kitchen as ready for use. “I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Game store management for putting lending hand when we need them most. This donation will enhance the learning capacity of our learners in this school,” said Pika.
Furthermore, the school’s principal, Mary Madaka welcomed this gesture by Game stores. “We cook for 876 learners everyday which was not an easy task to accomplish with our outdated small kitchen. On behalf of the school I commend Game store Management and believe that partnerships of this nature are going to make our daily nutrition program easier”, concluded Madaka
