The budget for the Department of Education increases - Masualle

"The budget for the Department of Education has been increased to R24,634 million in the 2011-12 financial year. Honourable Speaker, the total allocation towards education in the Province over the MTEF period amounts to R64.3 billion," said MEC Pumullo Masuallle delivering provincial budget speech at the Legislature.

R20,395 million of the total budget for 2011-12 is allocated to Programme 2: Public ordinary school education. The budget of the department will be used to intensify the drive towards improving the quality of schooling, expanding the number of no-fee schools in the province, Grade R, providing learner and teacher support materials, improving the school nutrition program and concentrating efforts to improve the Grade 12 pass rate. We should appoint qualified CA's to manage the Finance and Budget Sections,that is the CFO's position and Budget Director.Stop employing comrades or people who are connected within in the structures(politically) to occupy these positions.They have been in charge for nearly 4-5 years and still there is no quality service delivery.If this provincial government is serious about results and service delivery they should stop playing the race card and employ the right person in the job,black white, cloloured,Indian,Asian,Hispanic etc.Publish the scores of the relevant candidates so the people of this province can see it was done free and fair.
