MEC Mandla Makupula continues with school visits

Eastern Cape Education MEC, Mandla Makupula, will resume week 2 of the provincial School Readiness Programme with a visit to all the schools that benefitted from a presidential visit last year when Pres. Jacob Zuma visited the province on a monitoring tour of educational institutions in Mdantsane and Peddie.

Flowing from that visit, a specific list of improvements were earmarked which the local communities highlighted as necessary if the schools were to be lifted out of their quagmire. These included renovations, improved access, provision of equipment and critical human resources.

The first school to be visited this morning will be Mzamomhle Public School in Mdantsane. In this school, the community had pleaded with the President to assist them with urgently needed renovations and the improvement of security as the school had been a victim of multiple break-ins and vandalism in the past.

Members of the media are encouraged to join this important undertaking as an additional mechanism of monitoring the delivery of services to our communities.
