The poor performance of the Mount Frere Education District this and in the previous years has prompted the Education department and its stakeholders including the Congress of National Traditional Leaders of South Africa (CONTRALESA), Umzimvubu Local Municipality, KwaBhaca Community Development Support Trust to hold a two day summit aimed at finding ways of rescuing the district.

Education Minister on World Teachers' Day
The Minister of Basic Education, Mrs AM Motshekga, MP, wishes to recognise the contribution of all teachers, past and present on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day on 05 October 2010. UNESCO/ILO inaugurated this day to commemorate the Status of the Teaching Profession in 1966. Across the world, all teachers who have made sacrifices, often under very trying circumstances and hardships, which ensure that their learners get quality education are recognised on this day.
