The poor performance of the Mount Frere Education District this and in the previous years has prompted the Education department and its stakeholders including the Congress of National Traditional Leaders of South Africa (CONTRALESA), Umzimvubu Local Municipality, KwaBhaca Community Development Support Trust to hold a two day summit aimed at finding ways of rescuing the district.

The poor performance of the Mount Frere Education District this and in the previous years has prompted the Education department and its stakeholders including the Congress of National Traditional Leaders of South Africa (CONTRALESA), Umzimvubu Local Municipality, KwaBhaca Community Development Support Trust to hold a two day summit aimed at finding ways of rescuing the district.

This morning, 14 October 2011, the Eastern Cape's department of education's Superintendent General, Adv. Modidima Mannya convened a meeting with the School Governing Bodies (SGBs) of 15 schools in Alice that have been adversely affected by the teacher work stoppage, that, they claim, is as a result of the Department's interdict against 14 South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) members.

Subsequent to cries for help by parents and communities of Uitenhage district, Eastern Cape provincial basic education Superintended General Advocate Modidima Mannya immediately stopped his office schedule to visit three areas in Uitenhage last week, Thursday and Friday with an aim to gather background information as well as “assess the nature of the challenges” facing the areas.

SA Giant power supplier donation affords rural Senior Primary School better learning facilities
South African‘s electricity public utility giant, Eskom, in collaboration with the Eastern Cape Education Department and the community of Phungulelweni village gathered in their newly built and nearly complete school recently to honour those involved in the rebuilding process of Phungulelweni Senior Primary School.

South African‘s electricity public utility giant, Eskom, in collaboration with the Eastern Cape Education Department and the community of Phungulelweni village gathered in their newly built and nearly complete school recently to honour those involved in the rebuilding process of Phungulelweni Senior Primary School.
