Learners debate SOPA at the Legislature

Eastern Cape learners from six districts and two metros gathered for the Schools Speech Competition Provincial Finals held at the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature recently to debate the State of the Province Address (SOPA) delivered by the Premier of the Province Noxolo Kiviet on 17 February 2012.

Following consultations with the Premier of Eastern Cape, Noxolo Kiviet, the MEC for Education, Mandla Makupula, as well as the ruling party, coupled with our visit to the Eastern Cape on the 27th January 2011, all parties concur that an intervention is required to remediate the situation faced by the Eastern Cape Department of Education.

We are firmly committed to ‘implement with speed and determination’ all our flagship interventions that are so crucial for the turnaround of our education system.
