On Tuesday, 6 March 2012, Deputy Minister for National Basic Education (DBE) Mohamed Surty visited two primary schools and a high school in the King William’s Town district accompanied by delegates from his office as well as officials from provincial office.

Education MEC visits Peddie District
The audible blare about service delivery to schools which last year saw the Eastern Cape education department being visited by President Jacob Zuma, has been prioritised by the department this year such that on the 17th of January 2012, MEC Mandla Makupula will be visiting Sobantu and Minenkulu Senior Secondary schools, in the Peddie district at 09h00.

Advocate Mannya vows to bring change to troubled Uitenhage District

Subsequent to cries for help by parents and communities of Uitenhage district, Eastern Cape provincial basic education Superintended General Advocate Modidima Mannya immediately stopped his office schedule to visit three areas in Uitenhage last week, Thursday and Friday with an aim to gather background information as well as “assess the nature of the challenges” facing the areas.

In the most recent round of school visits by the national Minister of basic education, Ms Angie Motshekga, two Butterworth schools, Ncaphayi Junior secondary and Gobe Commercial School received a courtesy visit due to their success pass rate despite the district’s 49% pass rate for the year 2010.

Mannya schedules meeting with all EC School principals and SGBs
The newly appointed Eastern Cape Department of Education Superintended General Adv. Modidima Mannya will be scheduling meetings with all provincial Principals and School Governing Body representatives in all of the three Clusters in an effort to address the various key and topical debates taking place within the schooling environment.

Recently, a German delegation of four from the Baden-Wuttenberg visited the Eastern Cape Education department to check the readiness of Buffalo City FET College to offer Mechatronics Engineering studies to post National Certificate Vocational (NCV) level four students are geared for this 2011 project.
