The poor performance of the Mount Frere Education District this and in the previous years has prompted the Education department and its stakeholders including the Congress of National Traditional Leaders of South Africa (CONTRALESA), Umzimvubu Local Municipality, KwaBhaca Community Development Support Trust to hold a two day summit aimed at finding ways of rescuing the district.

These 37 teachers received a training presented by president Steyn Mines in Welkom from the 14th to 18th November 2011. The training is meant to up-skilling teachers at technical schools to acquire new trends, practical skills, and developments in their technical subjects
