SA Giant power supplier donation affords rural Senior Primary School better learning facilities
South African‘s electricity public utility giant, Eskom, in collaboration with the Eastern Cape Education Department and the community of Phungulelweni village gathered in their newly built and nearly complete school recently to honour those involved in the rebuilding process of Phungulelweni Senior Primary School.

Nine days since the Grade 12 examinations have started; neither a single of the 67,610 Grade 12 candidates nor a school in the Eastern Cape has registered an irregularity or brought to a book for interfering wrongly with the examination programme.

The Minister of Basic Education, Mrs AM Motshekga, MP, wishes to recognise the contribution of all teachers, past and present on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day on 05 October 2010. Statement on weighting given to Grade 12 Preliminary Examination
The Department of Basic Education has noted the confusion in statements by Grade 12 learners and the media concerning the weighting of the preliminary/preparatory examination mark as part of the final School based Assessment mark (SBA) for each subject. The SBA constitutes 25% of the final promotion mark. The final November examination makes up the remaining 75%.

With just 38 days to go before the start of the final matric exams, Cabinet has condemned “in the strongest possible terms” protests taking place in some parts of the country by pupils, who in some instances have disrupted matric preliminary examinations.
