Schools to suspend extra-mural activities

Eastern Cape trial examination starts today
The Eastern Cape Department of Education has issued Assessment Instruction 42 of 2010 to all schools and district offices which serve to inform them of the Re-scheduled and Compressed Grade 12 Trial Examination Programme scheduled to start today, the 13th- 23rd of September 2010.

MEC Qwase to visit two of PE’s northern area schools
As part of the visit in this district on the same day, MEC Qwase will be visiting the Booysen Park Secondary School, whose 11 out of 40 classrooms were considerably affected by fire recently, will be undergoing restoration. The reconstruction is anticipated to commence as of 1 November 2010.

Motshekga on the National Teachers' strike
The national teachers’ strike has been a major blow to public education, and has had a particularly devastating effect on the education of poor, rural and black children. I am pleased that the industrial action is now probably behind us and that we can begin the process of stabilizing our schools.
