Notice Board
On Sunday, 5 October 2008, National Minister NG Pandor hosted a national event themed "My Teacher makes a difference" in Durban, in celebration of World Teachers Day. "The function was organised to afford the minister and her provincial collegues an opportunity to recognise the role played by teachers in providing quality education."Even more importantly, the minister had invited forty five teachers (five per province) and an equal number of learners. This gesture was meant to highlight the critical role played by our educators across all continents, in towns and in villages, and to thank them for their continued commitment to the profession, oftern in difficult circumstances.
We join UNESCO in committing ourselves to an increased focus on professinal training for quality education. We also commit ourselves to ensure that the gift of literacy is passed from our generation to the next, along with the love of learning and thirst for knowledge.
As the Eastern Cape Department of Education, we join the world community in celebrating teachers and the central role they play in nurturing and guiding infants, children, youth and adults through the life-long learning process.
