1. Important Information for all applicants


A.  Applications should be made by clicking to download the attached Eastern Cape Province application form (Educator Employment Profile EDP 01 Form). Such form must be photocopied from this bulletin. Additional copies of this application form can be obtained from any District Office. This form has been designed to allow SGB’s to shortlist with as much possible relevant information. This form combines the information in the standard application form and the standard CV information into one Employment Profile Form. Although the standard form may still be used, SGBs require the maximum amount of information in order to shortlist candidates. 

 

B.  Application Forms are to be accompanied by all relevant documentation. (Recommended list) 

  • ·     Completed (EDP 01) application form
  • ·     Certified copy of the green South African Identity document
  • ·     Certified copies of all academic qualifications, which must include appropriate training as educator
  • ·     Certified copy of membership certificate with SACE (OR proof of application for registration) 

 
C.     Minimum Requirements For Appointment


Foundation Phase (Grade R to Grade 3)

 

-       A study of the four subjects prescribed by the National Curriculum Statement 

-       Competency in the development of early literacy, particularly reading competence.  

-       Competency in the development of early numeracy 

-       Competency in the development of life skills 

-       Bachelor of Education(Foundation Phase) 

-       Bachelor of Education(Primary) 

-       Primary Teachers Diploma 

 

Intermediate Phase(Grade 4 to Grade 6)

 

-       A study of at least four of the subjects prescribed by the National Curriculum Statement. 

-       These must include the disciplinary bases of content knowledge, methodology and relevant pedagogic theory 

-       Expertise in the development of reading competence, particularly reading comprehension

-       Expertise in the development of numeracy

-       Expertise in the development of life skills

-       Bachelor of Education – Intermediate Phase

-       Bachelor of Education(Primary)

-       Primary Teachers Diploma

  

Senior Phase (Grade 7 to Grade 9)

 

-       A study of at least two subjects relevant to the post which meet the requirements of the subject up to at least second year level of the post matric/grade 12 study

-       The studies must include the disciplinary bases of content  knowledge, methodology and relevant pedagogic theory

-       Bachelor of Education – Senior Phase.

 

Further Education (Grade 10 to Grade 12)

 

-       A study of one or more subjects or specialisations suitable for  the phase/post at least up to second year level of study

-       The study must include the disciplinary bases of content knowledge, methodology and relevant pedagogic theory

-       Bachelor of Science Plus PGCE

-       Bachelor of Commerce Plus  PGCE

-       Bachelor of Agriculture Plus PGCE

-       Bachelor of Education Science

-       Bachelor of Education EMS

-       Bachor of Education Social science which includes the school subjects, such as Geography, History and Languages.

          

D.   APPOINTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Severe Intellectual Disabilty(SID/SMH)

 

  • Education and support to LSEN learners, participate as part of the School Based Suppport Team. To manage and support learning of learners, ability to differentiate and adapt curriculum and refer appropriately. Advocate for the LSEN learners, assess and provide concessions and accommodations where necessary. Knowledge of: White Paper 6 on Inclusive Education Policy(2001), Screening, Identification, Assessment and Support  Policy(2014) Constitution of the Republic of South Africa as well as other relevant Acts and Policies pertaining to education eg SA Schools Act(1996), Employment of Educators Act(76 of 1998) and Employment Equity Act(1998).
     

Technical Occupational Schools of Skills

 

  • Education and support  for, qualification in the subject to be taught(woodwork, welding, sheetmetal work, panel beating, beauty, ancillary care etc) participate as part of the School Based Support Team. To manage and support the learning of learners, assess and provide concessions and accommodations where necessary. Knowledge of: White Paper 6 on Inclusive Education Policy(2001), Screening, Identification, Assessment and Support  Policy(2014) Constitution of the Republic of South Africa as well as other relevant Acts and Policies pertaining to education eg SA Schools Act(1996), Employment of Educators Act(76 of 1998) and Employment Equity Act(1998)

 

  Schools for the Blind

 

  • Education and support for, qualification in the subject to be taught participate as part of the School Based Support Team. To manage and support the learning of lerners, ability to differentiate and adapt curriculum and refer appropriately. Advocate for the LSEN learners, assess and provide concessions and accommodations where necessary. Knowledge of: White Paper 6 on Inclusive Education Policy(2001), Screening, Identification, Assessment and Support  Policy(2014) Constitution of the Republic of South Africa as well as other relevant Acts and Policies pertaining to education eg SA Schools Act(1996), Employment of Educators Act(76 of 1998) and Employment Equity Act(1998)

           

     Schools for the Deaf

 

  • Educationand support for, qualification in the subject to be taught participate as part of the School Based Support Team. To manage and support the learning of lerners, ability to differentiate and adapt curriculum and refer appropriately. Advocate for the LSEN learners, assess and provide concessions and accommodations where necessary.  Knowledge of: White Paper 6 on Inclusive Education Policy(2001), Screening, Identification, Assessment and Support  Policy(2014) Constitution of the Republic of South Africa as well as other relevant Acts and Policies pertaining to education eg SA Schools Act(1996), Employment of Educators Act(76 of 1998) and Employment Equity Act(1998)

                    

All Special Schools: Including Physically Disabled/Specific Learning Disabled etc.

 

  • Educationand support for, qualification in the subject to be taught participate as part of the School Based Support Team. To manage and support the learning of lerners, ability to differentiate and adapt curriculum and refer appropriately. Advocate for the LSEN learners, assess and provide concessions and accommodations where necessary.  Knowledge of: White Paper 6 on Inclusive Education Policy(2001), Screening, Identification, Assessment and Support  Policy(2014) Constitution of the Republic of South Africa as well as other relevant Acts and Policies pertaining to education eg SA Schools Act(1996), Employment of Educators Act(76 of 1998) and Employment Equity Act(1998)

 

E.    Forms without all the relevant documentation will be discarded.

 

F.    Separate application forms should be completed for EACH POST. Each form must be accompanied by the required documentation. Completed forms which are photocopied will not be accepted. 

G.     Where there is misrepresentation of facts, or any other deviations from these procedures, regulations, or collective agreements, the Department reserves the right not to fill the post or posts affected. 

H.     The post, post number and the name of the educational institution for which an application is being made should be clearly stated. 

I.   NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. 

J. Successful candidates are only to assume duty on receipt of an official letter of appointment duly signed by the relevant District Director. 

K.   All applications must be directed to the relevant District Offices only.
